It's hard not to stop here every time I drive by! The bread truly is what makes the difference! And don't get me started on the crispy fries...

Awesome place! When they are open... Odd hours. Onion rings are huge and the batter is thin, witch I like because it's all about the onion.

Great, friendly and fast service. The grilled cheese is awesome-and the hot dog is good too. I'm picky about my dogs, but these passed the test.

Might be my new favorite place in Grand Haven. It's a cool old joint right by Home Depot of all places, but it's pretty much the opposite of that sort of boring, corporate, big box business. Stacks is a quirkly, family owned and operated sandwich shop with great sandwiches (I got the dipped Italian beef with hot & sweet peppers--awesome) and really good fries. The potato salad and slaw were pretty good too. If I lived nearby I'd be there at least once a week. If Stacks was in Austin, the line would be out the door and around the block.

Since leaving Illinois, Italian beef sandwiches are very high on the list of what I miss most. Why the rest of the world hasn't caught on by now is beyond me, but it's very rare to find a place outside the Chicago area that claims to have Italian beef and gets anywhere even near the ballpark. Stack's nails it. I think I almost cried the first time I ate one of their sandwiches, I was so happy. Part of what makes them the real deal is the fact that they drive to Chicago themselves to pick up the important supplies, so what you get here is already what you'd expect from any good place in Chicago. Unfortunately I'm sure that's also a factor in the pricing, because it is a bit pricey compared to most places in Chicago, and the portions aren't quite as generous. But it's a heck of a lot cheaper than driving to Chicago for a sandwich, and it's SO worth it. It's also small like so many Chicago hot dog joints, but there are 6 or 7 tables so there's usually room to sit. Quality and taste-wise, it would be one of the "really good" places if it was in Chicago. Not the best but better than many. The combo (beef and sausage) is excellent, and it's served exactly as it should be - with a heap of giardiniera (also the real Chicago stuff) or sweet peppers. The hot dogs are real Vienna with all the required toppings. The fries are the best around. I'm sure the rest of the stuff on the menu is great too, but I can't get past my favorites enough to try anything else. Stack's is slightly off the beaten path, so a lot of people don't know they're there but it's far from inconvenient. If you can get to Home Depot you're already there. Their hours are limited, so if you want dinner you need to get there by 5:30. Sadly, they're closed on Sunday - which is when I often find myself in Grand Haven - but I've made many trips to GH only for Stack's. It's that good. It's a family-owned and run place that a lot more people need to know about. Do yourself the favor and go there now. If you're originally from Chicago it'll be like finding your long lost love. If you're not, you'll learn why Chicago is responsible for some of the best food in the world. You have no idea what you've been missing.

Excellent authentic Chicago Beef. Better most all the beef's I've gotten in Chicago. Highly recommended.

The reviews are correct they make a great Italian beef and italian sauage combo. They also do justice to a Chicago dog

Love the fries here! The atmosphere is really nice. Always get the Chicago hotdog, you won't be disappointed if you get it!

Italian beef was awesome. Must have gotten the onion rings on a bad day. They were really greasy.

When I need the flavor of "back home" in Chicago I head to stacks for a Italian Beef and a Chicago dog I head to Stacks. I grab my food and head to the beach, always a great lunch.

I was born and raised in Chicago and I love the beef sandwich.

Finally found THE PLACE for the best hot dogs and sausage on the lakeshore. Couldn't decide between the Italian Beef or The Italian Sausage, so I went with the Combo which has both! Happiest meal I've had in a long time!

Great food! Lived in Grand Haven for 6 years before finally going here. Had the Italian Beef and onion rings, both were great, onion rings were really good!

Came to GH for a family getaway, needed a "different" place to eat so we decided to check out restaurants on Yelp...Stak's had great reviews so we decided to try it. Omg, we had the Italian beef, Italian sausage w/onions & peppers & Italian sausage w/mozzarella & marinara...all very very good! I love it here in GH, so when we do come back we will definitely be coming back for more! Staff is very friendly too!

I lived in Chicago for 35 years. So I'm spoiled by having the best for a long time if you have never tasted a Portillos cheesy Italian beef on a croissant you need to have that on your bucket list. This place is not on that level, but it's still pretty good when I'm craving a Italian beef. You won't be disappointed.
